Recreation

Hiking: You
can follow extensive city hiking trails or traverse the Mount
Baker area. If you're visiting the Mount Baker area, stop by
the Ranger Station in Glacier to check on trail accessibility.
Fall colors and the stunning views of Mt. Shuksan and Mt. Baker
make this area ideal for photography.
Skiing: has the longest season in the state, and with runs that curve
below Mt. Shuksan. It also holds the world record in measurable
snow fall with 1,140 inches falling in one single season. Snowboarders

Golfing: Whatcom County has more public golf courses than any county in
Oregon, Washington and Idaho. From the rolling contours of a
Scottish-style course to the one of the best civic links in the
nation, this region is ideal for a golfing getaway.
Water
sports: Rent a sailboat or kayak to explore private coves. Or
join a charter trip to the San Juan Islands or Victoria. Summer
river rafting on the Nooksack River is very popular. Whether
you want to watch whales or simply whittle away the hours, Whatcom

Shopping: For some people, shopping is a sport. Whatcom County with its

The Farmer’s Market: During the Summer and Fall the Bellingham Farmer’s Market

fresh seafood, crafts, plants and flowers.

Recommended are Seattle (90 miles), Vancouver B.C. (55 miles),
